Below are a few of my favorite shots from our trip to Carlsbad a few years ago. Our twin sons lived in and around Carlsbad for a few years. They were working in the Oil and Gas Industry then, driving for different companies. Being below surface and allowed to use a tripod to shoot long exposure photography was splendid and quite unexpected. That alone helped me to get some nice shots of the cavern’s formations. Their lighting was well done. We were part of one of the shorter tours and since none of the kids would volunteer to help the ranger for a badge, Steve offered to help. He received his first Junior Park Ranger badge that day. I am always amazed by the childlike wonder my husband exhibits at times. And always a helper, Steve is very much like my favorite childhood actor, Fred Rogers.
The first photo is my favorite. I named the stalagmite Hade’s Sentinel. To me it looks like it should be in a LOTR movie.
