This was one of the best days I have experienced yet in the basin. We started up 67 north to 75, looped around, and came out 75 in the beginnings of a rain storm. Hwy 75 South can be clay or sand. Either way, you don’t want to be on that road in a downpour. It was exciting, especially when we exited the basin and onto asphalt. Then the downpour started and I could hardly see the road back to Maybell. That day we spotted a few foals. One in particular, Chattooga had not been documented. My friend, Cindy, named him Chattooga. She said it means sipping water in Cherokee. We’re both from the South and grew up with Cherokee influences.
