Darwin Falls in Death Valley

What a welcome site Darwin Falls must have been for the weary Desert Travelers.  It was for me this warm spring day.  I took off my shoes and enjoyed the cool spring water and squish of mud between my toes.

Lush and green, Darwin Falls is located in Panamint Springs Area in Death Valley National Park.  It is one of the four perennial creeks located in the 3-million acre Death Valley National Park.

The nearby town of Darwin, California, and all other areas named “Darwin” in the vicinity are named after Dr. Darwin French (1822–1902), a local rancher, miner, and explorer.
