Rattlesnake Arches
Hello from Rainbow Arch in Western Colorado

Rattlesnake Arches

This is one of our favorite hikes. We had not been in 3-4 years and found the road was in much worse shape. It is not an easy drive. We hiked out the 3+ miles to Cedar or Rainbow Arch and climbed up through it. You can turn around and hike back to your car for the extra mileage or the shorter route up through the arch with 1/2 mile to your truck. Our long bed truck was having issues and those with FJ Cruisers or Jeeps were moving along just fine.

If you go in the summer, take plenty of water. It is very remote. We were hiking 2-3 hours with an hour to get to the trailhead from Grand Junction.

Canon 5d Mark iv and 28-300 or 24-105L – mostly in the middle of the day so a bit bright. We had fun and a great way to spend Mother’s Day. The cover photo was taken several years ago.
