Steve and I drove into the Fruita entrance of the Colorado National Monument for our hike and was told by the Ranger that the sheep were just up the road. We were not disappointed.
I have been looking for baby bighorns for a few years now since moving to Grand Junction. As everyone who lives here knows, they can be elusive buggers. Yesterday I finally got a few shots I like.
This one is my favorite. This cutie was just checking out the views enjoying the sunny morning.
Hiking the Upper to Lower Monument Trail requires a shuttle. We dropped Steve’s truck off at the Lower Trailhead and headed into the Monument with my car. It turned out to be a perfect day for a 6 mile hike, mostly downhill, too. The weather was in the 50s to 70s and partly sunny.
I’ve been replacing gear a little at a time, but it has been hard. Most of my gear was stolen out of our rental in Vegas February 24th, three bags and many memories with that gear. Steve bought me a camera and two lenses in Vegas at a local shop that day after filing a police report. He is a sweetie. We thought my gear was covered, but apparently not. Live and learn from life’s burns.
